Recovery

The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own. - Benjamin Disraeli (Quote stolen from a Twitter post. The task of confirming the authenticity of the quote is an exercise which is left up to the reader.)

I am now officially beginning my traditional post-Christmas week of discarding. I spend 51 weeks each year accumulating things, accumulating projects, accumulating inputs -- basically, accumulating stuff that causes stress. There should be a week every year in which we discard that which doesn't bring value. This is it.

I haven't been blogging, which is something that I value. This is not that traditional post where the author apologizes for being remiss, and promises to work harder. I'm doing the opposite of apologizing, because while I wasn't blogging, I was out working my butt off to become more than I am and to cultivate a richer life experience, which is of ultimate value to me. Plus, I can't promise to work harder -- I honestly think it would kill me. I'm spending this, my first long break in my new career, trying to recover enough hit points to make it through to the Summer. I think I'll have enough.

Maybe I'll blog more in the coming days and months. And maybe I won't. What I'm throwing off, in this week of discarding, is the guilt I was feeling. You'll all be alright. As will I.

I have composed a remarkably concise description of myself, which 1,200 characters is too small to contain.
